I’m Renate Wood.
[Rah-Nah-Dah – German origin]
I’m a graphic designer/foodie/nature lover living in the the Raleigh, North Carolina area. After spending nearly a year as a graphic designer at All Times Publishing in Syracuse, NY, my husband led us to Virginia, and now Raleigh, N.C., where I continue to work as a freelance designer for ATP. Designing editorial/layout and advertising for the Syracuse New Times and Family Times has furthered my expertise in print design. Prior to ATP, I worked as a graphic artist at Cayuga Media of Auburn, NY, publisher of The Citizen and Skaneateles Journal (February 2010-April 2015). I graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in December 2009. Overall, working with local businesses to create advertisements, brochures, flyers, logos and so much more has been a part of my job for over eight years. My goal as a designer is to contribute to the success of any individual, brand or business with my knowledge, skills and passion for clean, cohesive design.
My obsessions, interests and where I come from:
Nature / Outdoors
Exploring the outdoors grounds me. Hiking in the High Peaks, Adirondacks made me feel like I was a little, tiny spec in this giant, amazingly beautiful world.
Printmaking / Design:
I’m obsessed with the interaction of layers and the shapes that can be created through the printmaking process.
Home / Germany:
Raised in the small town of Owego, New York but always connected to a bigger world. That bigger world is Germany, as half my family resides there. I’m actually named after my aunt, because she’s that awesome! Germany has provided me with so much inspiration for most personal projects I have completed. And no, I unfortunately don’t speak fluent German. Ich liebe Deutschland!
